When businesses scan the 1D, or linear, barcode on the back of your license, they only see your driver’s license number. It also eliminates manual errors that prevent companies from communicating with you. This saves time when filling out an application for a rewards program at your favorite store or verifying your age at events or restaurants. Only on the back, your personal information can be read by a barcode scanner. Those items contain the same information that appears on the front of your driver’s license. Have you ever looked at the back of your driver’s license? Chances are there is a barcode-or two, and maybe even a magnetic strip-on the back.
